The Chainsmokers Set Dance Chart Record with “Closer”

Disruptor Records / Columbia RecordsThe Chainsmokers‘ “Closer” may have topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 12 weeks, but over on the dance charts, there’s no end in sight for the song.

The EDM duo’s collaboration with Halsey just notched a 17th week at #1 on Billboard’s Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart.  That’s a record in the chart’s 13-year history: no song has ever stayed on top that long.  The previous record was 16 weeks, held by Swedish House Mafia‘s “Don’t You Worry Child.”  Lady Gaga‘s “Poker Face” was #1 for 15 weeks.

“Closer” has earned the Chainsmokers and Halsey a Grammy nod for Best Pop Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group.  The Chainsmokers also are up for Best New Artist and Best Dance Recording for their collabo with Daya, “Don’t Let Me Down.”
