Lady Gaga Defends Kanye West, Praises Him for “Taking Care of YOU”

Image Group LA/ABCLady Gaga has a request: stop making jokes about Kanye West.

Following several days of erratic behavior and a canceled tour, the rapper was taken to a hospital Monday, reportedly for exhaustion.  You may recall that back in 2009, Lady Gaga was scheduled to tour with Kanye on a joint trek called Fame Kills, but that was canceled after the Taylor Swift MTV VMA incident.  But Gaga obviously cares about Kanye, and said so on Twitter.

“It’s not funny to joke about anyone’s possible or not possible mental illness, this is a sensitive time for many. Let’s be kind & loving,” she wrote, adding, “While I don’t agree with everything he does I hope the public shows compassion and for and each other. One love. One Race.”

Gaga also directly addressed the rapper, tweeting, “ i support & love u brother, I see in you bravery & courage to stop this tour & take care of YOU. You are a GREAT artist.”

If anyone can sympathize with Kanye about the crushing pressure of fame, it’s Gaga. She tells CBS Sunday Morning in an interview set to air this Sunday, “As soon as I go out into the world, I belong, in a way, to everyone else. It’s legal to follow me. It’s legal to stalk me at the beach. And I can’t call the police or ask them to leave.”

“…And I said, well,  if I can’t be free out there, I can be free in here,” she says, pointing to her chest.
