The singer unveiled his brand-new single “Love on the Weekend” Thursday during a Facebook Live session. The mid-tempo song is about a guy who’s super-excited about picking up his girl and spending the weekend with her, because he never gets to see her during the week. At the end, he sings about how sad he is to be leaving her again.
“I’ll be dreaming of the next time we can go/into another serotonin overflow,” John sings. “Love on the weekend/Love on the weekend/I’m busted up but I’m lovin’ every minute of it.”
During the Facebook Live session, John confirmed that his new album will be called The Search for Everything. He describes the new album as “sort of a mixtape of all the music that inspires me and all the styles that I’ve made before but sort of in my own certain way of doing it.”
He added that in 2017, he’ll have “more music coming than I’ve ever put out in any one year.”
