ABC/Phil McCartenHarry Styles’ debut solo album might be arriving sooner than we think. Columbia Records CEO Rob Stringer, who was recently promoted to the head of Sony Music, tells Billboard Harry’s record is almost finished.
“We’re close and we’re very excited,” he says. “We have a record we’re incredibly excited about and it’s not far away from being ready. We obviously want everything to be beautifully done, because we think he’s here to stay.”
Stringer adds, “Harry has stepped up with the vision of someone who’s authentic.”
Harry will follow in the footsteps of One Direction band mates Niall Horan and Louis Tomlinson, who have already released solo material. And of course, former member Zayn has also enjoyed solo success, proving there isn’t just one breakout star from the group.
Stringer attributes this to the fact that none of the members painted themselves into a corner when it came to their images.
“They weren’t caricatures,” he says. “And today, they’re making smart choices. It doesn’t surprise me that [they’re taking] different paths and they’re doing pretty well.”
Harry’s also set to make his movie debut in the movie Dunkirk, which comes out July 21.
