ABC/Randy HolmesIt’s been a great year for G-Eazy, who was featured on hits by Britney Spears, Bebe Rexha, Grace, Nathan Sykes and, most recently, Mark E. Bassy. The rapper says he’s looking forward to celebrating with his family, but remembers fondly one special Christmas when he got to be a real-life Santa Claus.
“I remember a couple Christmases ago, I just got signed and the check came,” he tells ABC Radio. “Like, my first advance. It was a life-changing amount of money, I’d never had money like that ever and it came just in time for Christmas, and I went dumb, y’know what I’m sayin’? I spoiled my mom, I spoiled my little brother…and it felt so good!”
G-Eazy says that his mom scrimped and saved to buy him and his brother nice things when they were kids, so it’s the least he can do now that he’s got bucks.
“I remember this one year, she went the dumbest, and the paying off all the credit cards was like a nightmare,” he recalls. “But she got me an iPod and me and my brother a Playstation, and all this stuff. So now, I just enjoy being able to spoil her and being able to help take care of everybody.”
You’ll see G-Eazy ringing in 2017 on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, airing on ABC December 31. In January and March, he’ll be performing at festivals all over the world.
