Camila Cabello Leaves Fifth Harmony; Group Pledges to Continue with Four

The news comes in post on the official Fifth Harmony Twitter at around midnight last night.  “After 4 and a half years of being together, we have been informed via her representatives that Camila has decided to leave Fifth Harmony,” the message begins.  “We wish her well.”

The tweet — actually a pic of a message — goes on to thank the group’s fans, and says “we are excited to announce that we will be moving forward with the four of us — Ally Brooke, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane and Lauren Jauregui for our fans.”

“We are four strong, committed women who will continue with Fifth Harmony as well as our solo endeavors,” the message declares.

Speaking of solo endeavors: while there was no reaction as of early Monday morning from Camila on her social media, the 19-year-old’s duet with rapper Machine Gun Kelly, “Bad Things,” last week cracked the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.  Last year, she also scored a solo top-20 hit with “I Know What You Did Last Summer,” her duet with Shawn Mendes.  It seems likely Camila’s decision was motived at least in part by her continued solo success.

Fifth Harmony was formed in 2012 during the second season of the U.S. version of The X Factor.  Their biggest hit is the platinum single “Worth It,” from their 2015 debut album, Reflection.
