Atlantic RecordsWhile many fans were clamoring for Bruno Mars’ new album, there weren’t quite enough of them to hand him a #1 debut.

Bruno’s new disc 24K Magic debuts on the Billboard album chart at #2, right behind Hardwired…to Self-Destruct, the latest disc by metal legends Metallica.  Still, 24K Magic sold 231,000 album equivalent units, which marks Bruno’s best sales week ever.

His two previous albums, 2012’s Unorthodox Jukebox and 2010’s Doo-Wops & Hooligans, both debuted in the top two; Jukebox went on to reach #1.

More good news for Bruno: the album’s lead single, the title track, has reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100.
