Don Le StudioMike Posner‘s ending the year with a Grammy nod for “I Took a Pill in Ibiza,” and a performance spot December 31 on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest. This holiday weekend, he’ll have plenty to celebrate — and two holidays to do it.
This year, Christmas Eve and the Jewish holiday of Chanukkah both fall on the same night: December 24. Mike says he and his family will be making the most of that concurrence. “I’m from a family which has two religions,” he tells ABC Radio. “My mother’s Catholic and my father’s Jewish so we celebrate both Chanukkah and Christmas.”
But no matter what holiday it is, Mike says the best part is getting together with his family in his hometown of Detroit, MI.
“We celebrate by just being together at the house,” he says. ” My sister and I both live in far parts of the country, –or we did, I just moved back. But in the past we’d always sorta make a pilgrimage back home and spend some time together.”
Mike plans to release two new albums in 2017 — one with his side project, Mansionz. He’s also releasing a book of poetry — and then there’s that Grammy nomination. He’s up for Song of the Year, and he’ll find out in February if he gets to be a “real big baller” and take the trophy home.
