“TIME” Magazine Says Hits by Justin Timberlake, Meghan Trainor & Lukas Graham Are Among the “Worst Songs of 2016”

RCA RecordsMillions of Justin Timberlake fans can’t be wrong…or can they?  According to TIME magazine, Justin’s #1 smash “Can’t Stop the Feeling!” — which has a good shot at being nominated for an Oscar — is one of the 10 Worst Songs of 2016.

Time calls JT’s hit an “insipid earworm” that became “unavoidable at any social gathering.”  The mag adds, “Forget the feeling — just please, please stop this song.”

But Justin’s hit isn’t the only song by a big-name artist to make TIME‘s list.  Lukas Graham‘s “7 Years” is also there, as the magazine snarks that it “makes a listener yearn for the artistic integrity of a band like Maroon 5.”  That’s not a compliment.

Meghan Trainor‘s hit “No” is another one that made TIME‘s list.  Why?  “Its message of empowerment is as flimsy as the melody is uninspired and repetitive,” notes the magazine.  It also calls her out for appropriating black slang.

Others songs that were unlucky enough to make the list include another Meghan Trainor tune, “Mom;” Britney Spears’ “Private Show,” Mike Posner‘s “I Took a Pill in Ibiza” remix; a new version of the Ghostbusters theme song by Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliott; and “Team” by rapper Iggy Azalea.

On the other hand, TIME considers Beyonce‘s “Formation” to be the Best Song of the Year.
